Only in her dreams can she be running full throttle with her beautiful baying voice sounding off as she revels in the sunshine and the rush of smells coming at her from every direction. American Shorthair Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dolly-2 & 1/2 years waiting for a home Dolly has spent her entire life waiting for that hard to find person seeking the hard to adopt kitty that has been rejected by everyone else. Dolly's start to life held circumstances so terrifying to her kitten mind that she would require many long months of love and nurturing to move past the fears that could not allow her to trust the hands that reached for her. Dolly arrived in December 2014 with her 2 sisters all so feral that gloves were needed to handle the 8 week old babies. Typically a feral kitten will respond to kindness much faster than will an adult feral. But Dolly was an exception and ... (Read More)would grow into adulthood with a very slow shedding of the fears that imprisoned her soul. Time and continued kindness quelled much of her fear and in place of the defensive kitty there emerged a shy kitty willing to greet visitors even if hesitantly. Dolly will now voluntarily climb into the lap of those people who have encouraged her across her long evolution from fear to a desire to experience the exchange of affections which come so easily to the other residents of the Cat Room. She is our longest waiting kitty and our most difficult to adopt. We look every day for that rare person looking for a kitty companion like Dolly. Dolly has a sponsor who subsidized her fee to $20. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00016Smokey Joe ($25 fee) (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Returned: May 2013 As of April 2017 he is 5 years old. Adoption fee $25 (sponsored) Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NaTEHJ2Its Smokey Joe is sponsored with a subsidized fee of $25. An approval process is required to adopt Joe. Joe (age 5yrs) has waited the longest of all our dogs for the person(s) and home that has eluded him. He lives for the moments that a staff member can play with him or that a volunteer can walk him in the neighboring woods. When weather is good, he has 2 hours outside to run within the fenced play yard. The other 22 hours are spent in a kennel run, waiting...hoping...for the person who never comes. He ... (Read More)initially came in as a tiny puppy in 2012 was adopted and returned fifteen months later in June 2013. He was returned because the other dog in the house continually attacked him. Joe came back to us with a fear of leashes that subsided with time and patience of each those who earned his trust. When he is with his favorite people, he wiggles with joy and one can see the glimpse of the younger Joe who believed in love and forever companionship. Joe is a strong dog weighing in at 77 lbs. An adult only household is being sought with an experienced dog person. Preferably no other pets but that will be determined by the home evaluator. Potential adopters are evaluated carefully as we know that there are a limited amount of people with the dog savvy experience required to share life with Joe. The kennel environment has been stressful for Joe and he will not reach his full potential until he can relax away from that environment. Joe will be a loyal and protective companion who will give his life to defend the person he loves. A secure fenced yard is required for Joe. Joe was housetrained before relinquishment but unknown how quickly he will remember those skills as he has lived in a kennel for a long time. His friendliness towards cats in motion is unknown.
